A one-off report analyzing the landscape of interactive display technology in education. The report draws upon Futuresource's unique history tracking technology in the classroom environment and the wider display hardware industry.
Interactive learning, and more specifically Interactive Whiteboards, has become a boom area but until recently there has been very little pressure from new entrants and technologies. This picture changed in early 2010 with the launch of interactive flat panel displays and interactive projectors from major display vendors. As the strategic and competitive landscape changes and new hardware solutions are introduced this report assesses the likely market impact. It considers the entire education market from funding models and key usage/technology considerations through to pricing and roll-out scenarios.
Key areas include:
- Overview of the current market situation - existing technology, market size, key players, class penetration, route to market and opportunities.
- Hardware Landscape and future considerations - cost structures, usage issues, impact of alternative display technologies.
- Content & Software - the impact of new entrants (hardware and software) on incumbent business models and software licensing structures.
- Installation Issues - impact of flat panels on areas such as transportation, insurance, resource, speed, classroom architecture and the like.
- Roll out scenarios - scenarios and forecasts developed with particular focus on cost matrix and software licensing models.

The pro camcorder market is at a crucial point: years of growth culminating in a record 2008 left the market unprepared for the significant drop in volumes in 2009. With the average price of pro camcorders dropping and margins being squeezed, manufacturers are under pressure to examine the strategies used to maximise brand share, whilst effectively managing the channel. This, coupled with the threat from HD-capable DSLRs and ever-more sophisticated consumer camcorders, means that a return to the volumes witnessed before the economic downturn is by no means assured.
Futuresource Consulting’s detailed pro camcorder market tracking service follows the market on a quarterly basis by examining volumes and values at a brand and country level and by covering verticals from videographers to education and corporations to broadcasters. The report covers the whole of EMEA and is based on actual volumes from manufacturers dating back to 2006. Forecasts by country and specification up to 2014 are also provided. |
