Mike Dias, Executive Director - In-Ear Monitor International Trade Organisation (IEMITO)
Mike Dias, known throughout the industry as an expert in custom in-ear monitors, has created an organization called the In-Ear Monitor International Trade Organization (IEMITO) in an effort to bring together in-ear manufacturers, dealers, suppliers, sound engineers and end users. The goal of the organization is to be a repository of unbiased information and to serve as a directory for all members with features such industry best practices, education, job placement assistance, trade show and event participation as well as the promoting the use and enjoyment of in-ear monitors.
Mike learned the in-ear industry while working for Jerry Harvey in the very early days of Ultimate Ears — before they had their own lab and were working with Westone as their in-ear manufacturer. He helped them move from Las Vegas to Irvine after they took on their initial round of investment capital and he helped launch the original, and the successful super.fi universal in-ear lines when less than 1% of retail headphone sales were over the $79 price point. He later became global Sales & Marketing director for Logitech, parent company of Ultimate Ears.
He’s watched the industry grow from the back of a tour bus to what it is today and has been able to cultivate mutual respect and friendships with all of the pioneers of the industry. The idea for IEMITO had been brewing for a while and it was hard not to notice just how big the industry became with many manufacturers now participating globally. Since its launch, the organization has been an immediate hit with manufacturers in the US, Europe and Asia.
When he is not advocating for in-ear monitor use, Mike is an in-demand speaker who talks about customer relationship management philosophies and optimising sales processes.
