Compared to the previous Futuresource survey, employees are now not only spending more time in the office, but they are also spending more there than they are working at home. Overall, the most common arrangement is a hybrid model, with 45% working from home at least occasionally. However, there are some country differences, with French employees more likely to be in the office full time. Of those surveyed in the UK, 57% were working under hybrid conditions.

In meeting rooms, around a quarter of conferences which include video or screensharing are taken by individuals using the space on their own. This is most popular in Germany and the USA. Unsurprisingly, the larger the size of the organization, the more people are likely to be present in the meeting room.

This report presents the results of a video conference survey carried out across Western Europe and the USA to uncover employee attitudes and behaviours towards video conferencing technology at work. It provides a practical assessment of the end-user approach to meetings, and the barriers and drivers that users experience when collaborating across distances, either from desks or from a meeting room.

Interviews were conducted with over 1,000 employees who engage with conferencing technology on a regular basis, and toom place via web interview in March 2022.

This report also makes references and comparisons to the 2021 and 2020 versions of the same survey. The 2020 survey was conducted in April 2020, when respondents in the selected countries were generally starting to work from home due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 survey was conducted during March 2021 when respondents in the selected countries were generally still working from home.
