Futuresource Headphones Shopper Journey

Date Published:

Current Market Trends

Headphones remain a firm consumer favourite, with the survey results showing that true wireless (TWS) headphones were the most purchased form factor, followed by wired in-ear headphones.

The main reasons for purchasing headphones were cited as the desire for a new form factor, the need to replace or upgrade their existing pair, and also to access new features. Audio quality remains a key purchase driver, with consumers across all markets naming it as the most important feature when considering new headphones. Durability came in second.

Almost a third say that sustainability is also the most important factor when choosing headphones. However, there were significant country variations, with the largest proportion of consumers in the USA, followed by China, considering it the most important element in their purchase decision.
