The UK CE market was worth £15.7bn at retail in 2015 and is forecast to grow by 1.9% this year to £16bn. Whilst many traditional CE categories such as DVD players and cameras are in steep decline, this is more than outweighed by growing demand for new generations of products such as wearables, smartwatches and wireless audio in conjunction with solid performance from more mature categories such as white goods, TVs and Smartphones, where average prices are rising even though volumes in some cases are falling. The Brexit vote has cast uncertainty over the outlook for the UK market; the immediate effect this year is more one of rising prices in the final quarter than in suppressed demand. In this report we present an update to our February 2016 report on the total Consumer Electronics UK landscape, which examines the market outlook and competitive situation, building on 20 years’ continuous worldwide research in CE and related Media sectors.
