The broadcasting industry continues to grapple with a slowdown in production of both live / nonlive TV, as well as advert production in 2024. In early 2024, there were hopes the resolution of the WGA & SAG-AFTRA Hollywood Strikes at the end of 2023 would serve as a Hail Mary for the industry, but no such surge in demand has been realised. These issues have been exacerbated by wider macro economic issues, including inflation, unfavourable exchange rates and global trade tensions.
