Germany’s video entertainment performance continues to flourish, with 2022 expecting to report a rise of 11% year on year reaching €11.4bn. Despite wider economic challenges facing the German population, notably rising living costs, entertainment spend and consumption continue to perform well, supported by a strong release slate and increasing number of D2C options.

At the end of 2021, Germany grew by a stable 2.6% as it continued to slowly recover from the pandemic. Despite the tourism sector bouncing back with travel restrictions ending in June 2022, the supply chain disruptions have continued to worsen, even with a large order backlog, with new material shortages postponing the recovery of manufacturing, construction, private investment and export sectors.
