Pandemic-driven turbulence in the Dutch box office segment resulted in declining spend on video entertainment in the Netherlands during 2020. However, recovery in 2021 has been strong, with the market expected to exceed the 2019 level of consumer spend, buoyed primarily by robust growth in an already established SVoD market. Box office’s resurgence, coupled with the continued expansion of SVoD and a healthy Pay-TV landscape will drive consumer spend towards €3bn in 2022.
